Pardee Resources Company: Judge Grants Summary Judgment Motion in Kings Dome Case
On June 25, 2009 Judge Fallin of the Louisiana Second Judicial District Court for the Parish of Bienville signed an order granting Pardee's and El Paso's motions for summary judgment in the Kings Dome case thereby dismissing the matter and ruling as a matter of law that Pardee's mineral servitude had been maintained by good faith operations. The Indigo and Crabapple plaintiffs can appeal this decision to the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeals. We will continue to keep you advised of significant developments in this case.

Commitment to Writing Brings $50,000 Gift of Freedom to New Orleans Woman
A Room of Her Own Foundation's fifth $50,000 Gift of Freedom is awarded to Barb Johnson, a carpenter-turned-writer from New Orleans, Louisiana. Soon after Johnson entered The University of New Orleans' MFA program, Hurricane Katrina hit, wiping out her carpentry business and livelihood. For a while after that she lived on her apartment's balcony in the evacuated city and continued to write. Her stories garnered numerous awards and a book contract by the time of her graduation in May, 2008.

Today, One Block off the Grid (1BOG), the nation's top consumer advocacy group for residential renewable energy, and New Orleans-based South Coast Solar, Louisiana's largest solar energy company, announced that the Metro New Orleans area will be the program's first official city outside of California for its groundbreaking new solar community purchasing program. The program, which will enable Louisiana homeowners to organize as a community and buy solar in bulk at a significantly cheaper rate, was started in June of 2008 in San Francisco, CA, and has since been hailed as a major success.

Industrial employment in Louisiana fell 1.7% over the past twelve months according to the 2009 Louisiana Manufacturers Register, an industrial guide published annually by Manufacturers' News, Inc. (MNI) Evanston, IL. MNI reports Louisiana lost 3,385 industrial jobs and 101 manufacturers between April 2008 and April 2009, the first loss MNI reported for Louisiana since Hurricane Katrina devastated the state's industrial sector in 2005.
St. Bakhita Opens in Marrero

GEI Consultants, Inc., a national water resources, geotechnical, environmental and ecological science and engineering firm, announced today that firm Principal R. Lee Wooten, P.E., a civil engineer with geotechnical concentration, recently co-lead a team of civil engineers to New Orleans, Louisiana to assess levee performance following Hurricane Gustav.
